Mike and I had been wanting a dog for quite some time; however, the timing was never right. We had always lived in tiny apartments, where a dog was never practical.
We purchased our first home in December 2006 in the Heights area of Houston, TX. Once we unpacked and got somewhat settled, we really started looking into getting a Pug. We researched for months on which pet would be right for us.
Instead of purchasing one from a breeder, Mike found a pug rescue located in Houston named Pug Hearts that would allow us to act as foster parents. Pug Hearts dropped "Max" off on Thursday March 29th, 2007.
All we knew of Max was that he was a black Pug, about 3.5 years old and was abused by his previous owner. Mike and I were surprised just to see how nervous and anxious Max was. He did not want to be petted nor play with any toys! We first decided that we would need to change his name, as it had so much negative energy associated with it. After cafeful consideration, we decided on Chincho. Although he was not initially friendly, we were already in love! Who doesn't like a good comeback story? It took him about 4 days to really begin trusting us....now we are working on getting him to trust other people.
At the end of April 2007, we officially became the proud adoptive parents of Chincho. We can hardly to see what cute thing he will do next.
